A rooftop pool, modern apartments with comfy beds and a café downstairs: Neu Residences is the perfect base to explore Ljubljana. ***
Location
NEU Residences is located in a modern apartment building, just a few minutes walk from Ljubljana’s train and bus stations. The Ljubljanica River, which runs through the city’s historic center, is also mere minutes away from the hotel, as is the famous Dragon Bridge and Central Markets. Near Neu Residences, you’ll find grocery stores and restaurants, such as the vegan restaurant Veganika and Raw Pasta for handmade pasta. The rooftop pool offers stunning views of both the old church towers piercing Ljubljana’s skyline and the modern rooftops of the city.
I visited Ljubljana on my train trip around Europe. To read more about how to reach Slovenia from Spain by train, see this link!

Style
Neu opened in the summer of 2022, and its modern style is reflected in its interior design. The kitchenette had everything needed for a home-cooking visit, plus a little extra – like a Nespresso machine. My apartment had a bedroom separated by a sliding glass door, a living room and a kitchenette with a dining area. The bathroom followed the same aesthetic as the rest of the space – stylish and contemporary with a sleek design. The building’s ground floor houses the reception area and a café-bar, which stays busy from morning till evening. Neu Residences also has the Green Key certificate to show for its responsibility and sustainability.

My Visit to Neu Residences Ljubljana
Neu Residences was easy to find after arriving at Ljubljana’s train station, as it’s just three blocks away. Check-in was supposed to be done via an app, but to my surprise, there was also a reception desk, which I personally appreciated. This way, I received clear instructions on how to use the access codes for the building and my apartment: you can enter by typing in the codes or scanning a QR code.
I had breakfast at the café downstairs both mornings. The menu included options like croque madame (€7.5), various sandwiches (€6.2), and Greek yogurt with granola and apple jam (€5.5). The fabulous coffee was a nice bonus.
I had only a couple of hours to enjoy sunny Ljubljana before the weather turned bad. My planned activities, such as a bike tour and a riverboat ride, were cancelled, so I spent two days mostly in my apartment – which actually suited me well. At Neu, I was able to recharge before continuing my train journey and even got some work done. The café downstairs was also a great place to work, as it was clearly a gathering spot for other freelancers. It was nice to take breaks with a coffee and a snack, enjoying the lively atmosphere around me.

Highlight
The highlight of Neu Residences is undoubtedly its rooftop pool. I had planned to enjoy the views from the pool, but the bad weather prevented it. So, I’ll have to return to Ljubljana soon to try out all the activities I missed!
