In collaboration with Hotel Bergs Suites Riga
As a part of the lively Bergs Bazaar shopping and restaurant hub in central Riga, Hotel Bergs Suites offers a fabulous home base to explore the city’s best sights.
Location
Opened in May 2024, Hotel Bergs Suites Riga is ideally situated in the heart of Bergs Bazaar, placing a selection of restaurants and shops right on your doorstep during your visit to Riga. The aparthotel is approximately a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport, while the train station is just an 8-minute walk away. The bus station is a short drive or about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Nearby, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll in Bastejkalna Park, which borders Riga’s Old Town. Additionally, Riga’s Art Nouveau Museum and its surrounding streets are about a 20-minute walk away.
Style
Hotel Bergs Suites consists of two separate buildings now connected by short corridors, which introduces striking design elements to the hotel. Notably, the concrete outer walls of one building have been integrated into the hotel’s interior design. During my stay in the Studio Suite, I found it to be exceptionally spacious, with ample closet space lining the corridor leading to the living area, which featured stylish tables and a comfortable bed. The studio’s colour scheme of brown and beige, combined with doors that add a subtle 70s retro touch, created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The kitchenette was well-equipped with an Illy espresso machine, a kettle, and various utensils for preparing meals. The hotel’s dark walls, accentuated by brownish-golden artwork, contributed to a sophisticated ambiance. The breakfast room, with its skylight offering views of Bergs Bazaar’s courtyard, was particularly charming.
My visit to the Hotel Bergs Suites Riga
I arrived swiftly from the bus stop with a Bolt ride and checked in around 7 pm. The Bazaar’s courtyard was bustling with diners, creating a lively atmosphere, yet the hotel itself was tranquil inside. I loved the serene ambiance of my room, where the curtains provided a pleasant, shady retreat from the early August sunshine. Finding food was straightforward, as I dined next door at the wine and tapas bar, Garage.
The following morning, I enjoyed my coffee outside. The air was warm and fresh, and the Latvian strawberries and cornbread made for a delightful start to the day. After coffee, I explored Riga a bit before catching a bus to Āgenskalns Market, a recommendation from the hotel manager. I also discovered a fantastic map shop, Jana Seta, just around the corner from Hotel Bergs Suites. It’s an excellent spot to pick up physical maps or guidebooks if Riga is just a stop on your journey.

I returned to my room relatively early and worked for a few hours. I always appreciate a hotel with good desks, and my room had two, making it clear why the hotel is favoured not only by tourists but also by business travellers on extended stays.
In the evening, I opted for an early dinner at Garage once more, where the kitchen kindly prepared vegetarian tapas for me. After a refreshing shower back in my suite, I settled down with a good book. As before, the soft lighting and beige curtains in my room created a very relaxing atmosphere, ensuring a perfect night’s sleep before continuing my journey the next day.
Highlight
The location is fabulous, surrounded by Bergs Bazaar and its restaurants. No hassle finding a spot for dinner if you don’t want to stray far in the evening.
