Located by one of the city’s iconic medieval round towers, Nunne Boutique Hotel Tallinn is a fabulous base to explore the city.***
Location
Nunne’s location couldn’t be much more Tallinn-esque than this! The hotel isn’t only located in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, but the medieval limestone city wall itself runs through the hotel. From the windows, you can see cobbled streets, a serene courtyard, Toompea Hill, or Towers’ Square Park. The hotel’s prime location also puts you within walking distance of many of Tallinn’s must-visit landmarks, such as the Town Hall Square and Toompea Hill, both a 5-minute walk away. The trendy Telliskivi area is a 15-minute stroll away. Tallinn’s railway station is located 350 meters away from Nunne, whereas the ferry terminal is 1.6 kilometers away – a taxi takes less than 10 minutes.
Style
Nunne Boutique Hotel opened in 2023, the historic building stylishly modernized into a boutique hotel. Local artists and designers were employed to create a relaxed yet prestigious look for the hotel, which matches its historic location perfectly. Nunne’s 74 rooms are located on three storeys. Breakfast is served on the ground floor restaurant Âme, which in the evenings serves French cuisine with a Nordic twist.
My visit at Nunne Boutique Hotel
I got a fabulous room right next to the round tower, called the Nun’s Tower, and I could also see one of Tallinn’s famous arches right from my window. The room was super cosy; I loved the herringbone flooring and the black and white tiled bathroom with a rain shower. I visited Nunne as the final stop on my two-week train tour around the Baltic states, and in fact, the first night I just relaxed in my room, enjoying Nunne’s fabulous shower, fluffy robe, and comfy bed.
Breakfast was served in the downstairs restaurant Âme, and it was a feast of healthy shots, yogurts, oats, and delightful small pancakes as well as a selection of warm and cold items from scrambled eggs to gravad lax and fruits. I spent the day visiting Tallinn’s vintage shops and riding the tram (the weather was Arctic, and I wanted to see the city!) and then dined in the nearby vegan restaurant Restoran V before returning to Nunne for a nightcap. As this was the last night of my train tour around the Baltics with my cousin, we toasted with a nice glass of Crémant recommended to us by the knowledgeable waitress. There were a couple of other people having quiet drinks and chats before tucking into bed, and I loved the calm yet festive atmosphere of the place – a perfect night to wrap up the train tour!
