A modern aparthotel by the sea, Hayal Boutique Hotel is a beachside haven near Bar.

Location

First, let’s just put it out there: Hayal Boutique Hotel’s location could not be any better. Set directly by the sea, the rooms face the Adriatic Sea which waves produce a constant soundtrack for the stay. The hotel building was finished in July 2023, taking the place of a villa that was formerly utilised by the same family owners as a hotel. The hotel presents its own private beach, while Utjeha’s little beach – and a tiny hidden cove! – are just a leisurely stroll away. In Utjeha’s centre, you’ll also find restaurants and cafes. Closer to the hotel there’s a little shop with an ATM.

Style

Hayal was opened in July 2023 – making me one of its first guests. The apartments are effortlessly stylish, adorned with a tasteful blend of soft beige and soothing blue-grey tones, and the interiors beautifully complement the bright blue Adriatic Sea that lies just beyond the windows. My spacious studio room was equipped with a convenient mini kitchen, a sumptuously comfy bed, a vanity desk, and a bathroom with a rain shower. There’s also access to a terrace which in turn leads even closer to the sea and to more secluded spots to sunbathe.

My visit

Amidst my journey from Finland to Istanbul via buses and trains, my two-night stay at Hayal was a well-deserved respite, cloaked in sheer relaxation. Upon arrival, I strolled to the town centre for a late lunch in the restaurant Istanbul, before procuring some breakfast essentials from a local shop, as the hotel currently doesn’t offer dining services. After returning to the hotel, I took a dip in the sea, followed by a tranquil evening spent with a captivating book and listening to the waves.

The following day, I relished a leisurely breakfast on my terrace – after taking a refreshing morning swim. October blessed me with perfect weather, with a comfortable 25 degrees Celsius, and the water was pleasantly temperate. I spent a lot of time outside, taking another stroll to the town, and then returning to relax at the hotel. Because this is what the hotel is all about: relaxing by the seaside.
