Bob W, Tallinn – A climate-neutral stay in Estonia’s capital

Tallinn’s Bob W offers a climate-friendly stay in the trendy Telliskivi district, which hosts a great mix of museums, restaurants and shops. A calm and quiet base to explore old and new sides of Tallinn!

Location

Bob W is situated right where the action is, in Tallinn’s trendy Telliskivi area. Nearby, you’ll find Fotografiska Museum for photography, Loomelinnak’s design boutiques and Telliskivi’s foodie finds. A tram stop is mere 500 metres away and Tallinn’s railway station is less than a kilometre from Bob W. One of my favourite places in Tallinn for lunch, Balti Jaama food market, is also only a few minutes away.

Style

Bob W’s is sleek and set in a modern block of flats. I stayed in the “Vibrant Studio Home” apartment. It had a good-sized bathroom, a kitchenette and a balcony. The rooms have decorations designed by local artists. They also have some nice additional touches, such as a yoga mat, a Polaroid camera to take pics and a water bottle you can take with you when exploring the city. There was no reception but communication throughout the visit was super easy via WhatsApp. The building also doesn’t have a restaurant but you can have breakfast vouchers to visit nearby cafes. Reval Café is just around the corner, and Fika Café a 3-minute stroll away.

Bob W. is a climate-neutral accommodation, which means they have considered all climate-warming gases in their accounting and offsetting (not just carbon dioxide). Bob W. doesn’t also only talk about climate issues, they show their carbon footprint in numbers, too.

My visit – safe night for a solo stay

I stayed in Bob W for two nights on my bus trip around the Baltic states, relaxing in the nearby cafes and exploring Tallinn.

Telliskivi is a bustling district, but I enjoyed returning to my room early in the evening to relax and read: the flat was calm and quiet and I didn’t hear any noises during my visit. I also felt very safe in the room because you need to enter through security doors with codes at least three times before you reach your flat.

In the mornings, I tried both breakfast options. Reval around the corner is cosy and has delicious porridge and sea buckthorn juice whereas Fika is modern and busier and serves perfect flat whites and pastries. Having breakfast outside the hotel made me feel like a true resident of Telliskivi – if only for two days!

Highlight

Apart from climate neutrality, I loved Bob W’s location in Telliskivi, a convenient base to explore old and new Tallinn.

Reasons to visit

  1. Climate-friendly stay
  2. Location, location, location!
  3. Superb and calm flat, comfy bed.
